Art Space 24 and ‘The other Arcadia’ present the group exhibition ‘Kterismata’ (offerings). Kalliope Assargiotaki and Tassos Mantzavinos present paintings and drawings inspired by Michel Fais’ latest novel ‘Kterismata’ (Patakis Publications). The writer Michel Fais participates with twelve black and white photographic diptychs. During the exhibition three parallel events took place:
On May 29th, art historian Elisabeth Plessa and literary critic Vangelis Chatzivassiliou discussed about ‘The erotic thanatografia in art and literature’, on the occasion of Michel Fais’ novel ‘Kterismata’. This parallel event was attended, among others, by artists Alecos Levidis, Yannis Kontaratos and Varvara Liakounakou, Achilleas Kyriakides – writer and cinematographer, professor Venetia Apostolidou, Dimitris Daskalopoulos – literary critic, Maria Stasinopoulou – philologist and book critic, Yorgos Kordomenidis – Director of ‘Endefktirio’ magazine, Irene Vouzelakou – British Council Cultural Affairs, Alexia Kaltsiki – actress, Alexandra Koroxenidis – journalist, Georgia Tatsi – writer, Memi Katsoni – writer.
On June 6th, actresses Olia Lazaridou and Alexia Kaltsiki created a moving ambiance reading excerpts of the novel ‘Kterismata’. Many people attended this event; among others, Michalis Ganas – poet, Popi Gana – publisher, Christos Bokoros – painter, Dimitris Daskalopoulos – literary critic, Maria Stasinopoulou – Literary critic, Richardos Someritis – journalist, Sotiris Felios – lawyer and collector, Thanassis Lambropoulos – film producer.
On June 13th director and singer Martha Frintzila, alongside with musicians Vassilis Mantzoukis and Panyiotis Tsevas, performed songs which occurred from the texts and the images of this encounter.
The group exhibition ‘Kterismata’ featuring paintings by Kalliope Assargiotaki and Tassos Mantzavinos as well as photographs by Michel Fais will be on show until June 29th.
