The Municipal Art Gallery of Agrinio and ‘The other Arcadia’ Foundation present the exhibition ‘Anthropographies’ with works from the Sotiris Felios Collection.

The Mayor of Agrinio Mr Georgios Papanastasiou will inaugurate the exhibition on Saturday 9 April 2016, at 7.30 p.m. The exhibition presents paintings and sculptures by 30 prominent Greek artists, which in their own way, depict ‘Anthropos’ (man).

The exhibition is structured in two parts: With the works of the Masters, such as Tsarouchis, Moralis, Nicolaou, Engonopoulos, Botsoglou, and with works of the New Generation of painters, such as Bokoros, Daskalakis, Papanikolaou, Sacaillan, Rorris, Manoussakis, Mantzavinos, Filopoulou etc. All of the works have one thing in common: their affinity to figurative art and its traditional ways of expression.

The works that belong to ‘The other Arcadia’ Foundation are part of the Sotiris Felios Collection. The collection began in the early 90s in an attempt to search for meaning, identity and self-awareness.

Parts of the Collection have been exhibited at the Benaki Museum (Athens 2002 & 2009), the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art (Thessaloniki 2003), the National Museum of Modern Art (Athens 2010), the Sismanoglio Megaro (Istanbul 2010), the Hellenic Institute for Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Studies in Venice (Venice 2011), the Complesso del Vittoriano (Rome 2012), the P. & M. Kydoniefs Foundation (Andros 2012 & 2014), the National Gallery Annexes (in Naflpio and at the Koumantaros Art Gallery of Sparta 2013), the International Art Festival Re-Culture III (Patra 2014), the Municipal Art Gallery of Chania (Chania 2014).

Opening: Saturday 9 April 2016, at 7.30 p.m.
