Born in Athens in 1974, he was an Athens School of Fine Arts student (1996-2001) of Chronis Botsoglou. He has had three solo shows and taken part in several group expositions. In 2001 the Danish Institute in Athens granted him a two-month scholarship to work on a free art project in Copenhagen. In 2002 during the 1st Inter-Balkan Forum of Contemporary Miniature Art in Thessaloniki, organised by the State Museum of Contemporary Art, he was awarded the 1st Prize in Painting.Works of his have also been nominated for and presented in two ΒP Portrait Award exhibitions held at the National Portrait Gallery of London (2007-2008). He also won the BP Travel Award (China project) in 2008. He resides and works in Athens.

........ Bitsakis' portraits are also stunning paintings in their own right, deserving winners of the 2008 BP travel award.

Not much more than a dozen centimeters square, the images have a powerful mood of loss and fortitude with their flattened perspective, sharply drawn brooding faces, which recall Dürer and Memling, and compressed backgrounds featuring local ornament and Communist architecture. A solo show beckons.
